Tips for Interning in New York City

Interning in New York can be such an adventure.  I loved being able to escape to the city and pretend to manuever the streets like a pro.  Here are a few tips I have for interning in NYC.

1.) Apps:
The Embark NYC and On Time Apps both helped tremendously.  They allowed me to ride the subway like a pro and never (okay only once) get lost.  There are so many apps that are great for navigating New York.  Just search and you'll be sure to find some you'll love.

2.)  Deli's
I loved going to little local deli's to grab a bite to eat.  Grand Central is quite pricey with their food (so is the rest of New York) but I loved being able to find an assortment of food for a decent price at a local deli.

3.) Save the Heels
Hold off putting on your heels until the last moment you can.  I recommend wearing flats to trek around the city then putting on your heels once you go into work.  This will save you a lot of pain!

4.)  Cell Phone Charger
Keep a portable cell phone charger with you.  In NYC my phone died quickly due to the poor signals in the subways.  Therefore I recommend getting a charger such as the Halo.  It was easy to hook up and charge my phone conveniently.

    1. Thanks Merline! Connections always help but you can always email a company and see if they have any internships open or use websites such as internships.com
